Employment Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Employment Specialist responsible for assisting, guiding and advising a variety of different job seekers. In addition to unemployed participants of your area, there may also be other members who will need your assistance. A big part of the mission will be to figure out how you can best support many different participants and members as they work toward becoming self-reliant. 

Essential Job Functions and Duties

  • Responsible for extensive networking with employers to identify job leads and negotiating job opportunities with employers once an opening has been identified.
  • Performance will be monitored by the number of leads identified, number of interviews secured and number of job placements made each month.
  • Additional responsibilities include providing direct services, maintaining data on consumers, facilitating staffing, writing reports, intake completion, and case file documentation and to advocate on behalf of individuals who are seeking employment.
  • Work effectively in groups and in one-on-one situations and to coordinate services from external and internal sources as it meets the needs of consumers.
  • Seeks opportunities to develop skills and knowledge. Maintains all necessary certifications.
  • Exhibits sound and accurate judgment evidenced by identifying problems, reviewing aspects with appropriate staff and managers and developing timely and alternative solutions.
  • Develops/provides job assessments and employment opportunities for participants outlined in their service plans.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation in case records, service unit reports, timesheets, assessment hiring and reporting, etc.
  • Participates actively in the development of the employment service plan.

  • Self-Starter with little to no supervision needed.
  • Excellent communication skills; oral, written, facilitation and presentation.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.
  • Passion to help people from various backgrounds and enrich their lives.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.

Experience and Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work or a related field preferred or experience as an employment specialist. 
License and Certifications:
Valid Florida Driver’s License with an insurable driving record and current private auto insurance policy.
